Serve Clovis LogoMore than 900 Pre-Registered for Get-A-Disney-Day Tomorrow

More than 900 volunteers and team leaders will be weeding, raking and rebuilding tree watering wells along all sections of the Old Town and Dry Creek Trails** tomorrow (1/16) from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Serve Clovis! drive for volunteers in conjunction with Disney Parks free ticket promotion was such a huge success that Clovis Volunteer Coordinator Kathy Hamlin had to stop taking new registrants on New Year’s Day due to the overwhelming response. With little promotion, the Serve Clovis! “Give a Day – Get a Disney Day” (one-day park admission ticket per person) provided an incentive people wanted to clean and restore the two trails.

Participants will be reporting directly to their designated trail sections and checking in with their team leaders for instructions at 11 a.m. Previous volunteer projects have drawn upwards of 150 people, but nothing has rivaled the numbers for this undertaking in the history of the City’s volunteer program. Clovis currently has more than 500 active volunteers, for whom City leaders are grateful. They hope that after the new volunteers get a feel for what it’s like to give back to their community, they will consider participating again in future projects.
