Fireworks Safety
The Fourth of July is a time for families to enjoy and safely celebrate the holiday. Unfortunately, the use of illegal fireworks has caused needless injuries and fire losses in our community. Clovis Fire and Police Departments are working together this year to reduce losses by increasing enforcement of laws that prohibit the use and possession of illegal fireworks.
Violations will Result in Fines
Violation of these laws will result in a $1,000 fine for the person using illegal fireworks or the property owner. Remember, if you alter or misue legal fireworks, they become illegal and are subject to a fine. Our goal is to keep our community safe. Only purchase "safe and sane" fireworks that have the State Fire Marshal's seal. Local fireworks booths will be selling "safe and sane" fireworks starting at noon on June 28, 2009, and ending July 6, 2009.
Illegal fireworks can be turned in at any fire station at any time without any penalty and no questions asked. Never purchase illegal fireworks and never misuse legal fireworks.
Freedom Fest Fireworks
As an alternative to purchasing fireworks, consider enjoying the Annual Clovis Public Fireworks Display. This year, the event will be held at Buchanan High School Veteran's Stadium located at Minnewawa & Nees Aves. on July 4th. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. with the fireworks starting at dark.
Be safe and enjoy the Holiday!
