General Plan Update

General Plan Map The City of Clovis has started work on a new General Plan document for the Clovis Community. A General Plan is the master policy document that affects all aspects of the community and especially future land use such as where stores, business and house go as the community changes and grows.

The Clovis General Plan encompasses approximately 48,000 acres, which contain the City of Clovis, its 2000 Sphere of Influence, and adjacent lands within unincorporated Fresno County. The General Plan will have important things to say about the existing Clovis Community and is the foundation upon which most of the future municipal decisions the city makes will be based on in the future. Back to School Traffic Detail Generates More than 80 Citations

Seventeen Clovis Police officers wrapped up their Back to School Traffic Detail at Clovis schools today after writing a total of 81 tickets, most of those for speeding and cell phone use while driving. Two-Year-Old Drowns this Evening in Family Swimming Pool

Shortly after 5:30 this evening, Clovis Police and Firefighters received a call of a drowning 2-year-old child in a backyard swimming pool. When they arrived on scene, the little boy was not breathing. They tried to resuscitate him, and paramedics rushed him to Clovis Community Medical Center. Sierra Vista Mall Serves as Cooling Center

With extreme heat predicted for the next few days, Sierra Vista Mall will once again partner with the City of Clovis to serve residents as a Cooling Center. While the high temperature for Clovis is only expected to hit 99 today, residents are reminded to take advantage of the Cooling Center from 12pm – 8pm on any day when the National Weather Service predicts Clovis temperatures to be 103 degrees or greater.
