Two Students Found to Be Responsible for Social Media Threats on Schools

The Clovis Police Department, working in conjunction with the Clovis Unified School District Police Department, has determined the origin of the social media posts last night regarding “Clovis Killer Clowns”.  A twelve year-old CUSD student who was responsible for these posts was located and interviewed.  Based on the findings in this investigation, the juvenile was cited for their actions and released to their parents.

In another unrelated social media case, another twelve year-old CUSD student was found to be responsible for placing a threatening post on social media. After determining that there was no immediate threat to any students he was counseled and will be facing administrative punishment.

The Clovis Police Department and CUSD both want to remind parents and student about the dangers of making inappropriate posts on social media.  Any students making such threats face serious school and legal consequences, regardless of their age.  We will continue to work closely with CUSD and Fresno PD to investigate any threats against schools as we take them very seriously.
