Buy Local - Central Valley

Buy Local is an 18-month campaign within the Central Valley region. Its goal is to raise awareness and to educate consumers of the importance of buying from shops within their own neighborhood, whether it is national chain or a locally-owned shop.

When asked by a Fresno Bee reporter, "Why is it important for people to buy local?"  Clovis Mayor Harry Armstrong said, "Buying local helps our community because a small portion of the sales tax stays in the community where purchases are made.  So, if Clovis residents shop in Clovis, the city portion of their sales tax stays in Clovis to help pay for police officers, fire fighters, and parks maintenance."
